VISION FOR FUTURE
The Alberta Boom and Bust is done. Its time that we stop this cycle forever. A boom and bust society is very costly economically and socially to rebuild. Our new Alberta will promote a stop in this process so that we can preserve our past and build on our future. Progressive Canadian Provincial Conservatives will push for the necessary changes to provide the vision for a brighter future for all Albertans. The development of solar, wind, and in particular HHO (hydro generation) is less expensive than oil and gas with a lower carbon footprint. Our air will be cleaner than its ever been before for our children and our children's children. Just like China has developed multinational solar cities with the newest solar technology Alberta will be the new Hydrogen Highway. Our oil and gas industry is already investing billions and ready to exchange coal energy production plants for solar and wind generators. The future is now.
The PCPC party is starting where the Peter Lougheed Conservatives left off and respecting over 40 years of a politically central party. We will lead a new Alberta with our hopes and not our fears and with shared values as the strongest economic engine in Canada and do what we know is right even though the US under the present administration and some Canadian provinces can not or will not do what is right. We can’t stand still. We need to act with even more conviction than ever before. No more kid gloves when it comes to climate change. But we are going to have to do this together as one single entity and people believing in Alberta and future generations.
Capitalism and open markets are the greatest strengths of our present economy. They are the largest generators of wealth in our province and give us the highest standard of living in the world. But globalization and increased automation have weakened the position of workers in the world and their ability to secure a decent wage. We know that economies don’t prosper as fast when just a few prosper at the expense of the middle class.
Never again will the name conservative be linked to this shallow thinking in Alberta. If there are not enough opportunities for both men and women it destabilizes rather than strengthens our economy. Economies that do not share equally will create problems throughout Alberta and eventually all over Canada.
When the top 1% secure a larger and larger percentage of wealth in the world then there is a tendency to feel powerless and for governments to only serve those with the most power and most wealth in our society. We don’t want those in political power ever again to further undermine the rights of the middle class and the average worker and lead to less trust in government and less trust in each other.
We can’t reverse our past or stop the need for progress but we can create new ways to give everyone an equal opportunity and support a tax structure that respects how these large corporations were created on the backs of the average hard working Albertan. We have to invest in the skills and education and capacity of all Albertans to strengthen our economy.
